VMWare Taking Ownership of Virtual Machine Failed

If you use VMWare Workstation to manage virtual machines then, Virtual Machine in Use, and Take Ownership Failed, is a most common error that you may face. It usually occurs as a result of unclean shutdown, when either the host or guest didn’t have the time to properly stop all operations.

To resolve this error, close VMWare Workstation, and then navigate to the folder where your virtual machine is saved. Inside the main virtual machine folder, find for .LCK files. Select all the files, either move them to a different folder, or you can delete them. Once all the files are deleted, open VMWare Workstation, and try to run the virtual machine again, and that's it, problem is resolved!
